Here we are in London 2 days early. We decided to forego more of the countryside and become Londoners for a week. This decision was hastened by wet and cold weather, unbelievable delays on “freeway” driving, and the country being in the midst of a 3-day holiday that puts countless thousands more on the motorways which we wanted to avoid on the 25th. Thus, we’re settled in for a week at The Intercontinental and I thought things we turning around until Jack just now told me the toilet won’t work. I’m beginning to understand why the Empire is falling apart!

The four days in England have been interesting, although certainly more hassle and less pleasant weather. The Maison Talbooth accommodations in Dedham were as grand and delightful as I had hoped...no disappointment there. We also had a most pleasant afternoon in the Dedham area with a couple I had met 7 days ago briefly, very briefly at a conference in Brussels. We had met just briefly but corresponded a few times since, and they invited us to their home. It is one of those few rare times you have as an adult when 4 people meet and everything clicks. How pleasant.

We arrived in London late this morning; and after finding and securing our room (which by the way we’re getting 3 our of the 7 nites free), we immediately got to the business of getting a week’s pass on the Underground (complete with photo ID) and most importantly tickets for 4 nite’s worth of theater...3 musicals (one with Cyd Charisee) and 1 drama (starring Jack Lemmon and we’re in the second row–yea). I’ll report on all of this later. Cheerio, Theresa

Hope things are going as well as can be in Sun City West. Since I’ve received no word from you, I’m a tad concerned; but I shall operate on the principle that no news is good news.
